David O'Brien

Assistant Secretary

David O’Brien is the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. He leads the department’s communications strategy and oversees efforts to publicize the department’s policies and resources. Before joining the Labor Department in 2026, Mr. O’Brien served as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the National Association of Manufacturers, and the Fox Business Network.

A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. O’Brien is a graduate of Lehigh University.
