Deputy Administrator

Dieera Fitzgerald, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is a career Deputy Administrator for the Wage and Hour Division (WHD).

In this role Dieera oversees the administration and enforcement of a variety of labor standards statutes that are national in scope and that enhance the welfare and protect the rights of the nation's workers. WHD enforces federal minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act. WHD also enforces the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, the Employee Polygraph Protection Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, wage garnishment provisions of the Consumer Credit Protection Act, and a number of employment standards and worker protections as provided in several immigration related statutes. Additionally, WHD administers and enforces the prevailing wage requirements of the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts and the Service Contract Act and other statutes applicable to federal contracts for construction and for the provision of goods and services.

In 2003 Dieera began her career at WHD in Milwaukee, WI where she started as a Wage and Hour Investigator. Dieera has served in a variety of roles and at various locations around the country within WHD including Associate Administrator for Policy, Deputy Regional Administrator, Enforcement Specialist, and Assistant District Director. Dieera is a graduate of Marquette University.
