Emily H. Su

Deputy Solicitor for National Operations

Emily Su is the U.S. Department of Labor’s Deputy Solicitor for National Operations.  With a proven record of promoting compliance and protecting American interests, Ms. Su has been a steadfast advocate for U.S. markets, consumers, and industries.  As Assistant General Counsel for Enforcement at the U.S. Department of Energy, she upheld energy standards critical to strengthening America’s energy independence, enforced standards for liquefied natural gas exports, and protected the marketplace from unfair competition by noncompliant products.

In her role as Civil Rights Director for four agencies within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Ms. Su worked across USDA to develop practical strategies that empowered farmers and producers to access vital USDA programs, fostering economic growth and resilience in agricultural communities.  She also led enterprise-wide crisis management strategies and implemented streamlined auditing systems to enhance operational efficiency.

Ms. Su’s leadership extended to roles at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Transportation Security Administration, where she contributed to protecting lives through enhanced national security and consumer safety measures.  Recognized for her dedication and impact, Ms. Su was honored as the Federal Bar Association’s National Transportation Security Attorney of the Year. 

Ms. Su serves on the Board of Directors for nonprofit organizations and mentors emerging leaders to strengthen the next generation of public service professionals.  Ms. Su attended Pomona College, where she graduated as a Distinctive Scholar, and Duke University School of Law, where she earned a joint J.D. and LL.M. in International Law.
