Michael Kravitz
Deputy Administrator
Michael Kravitz, a member of the Senior Executive Service, serves as Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD).
In this role, he oversees the development and dissemination of policy and procedural guidance across all laws administered and enforced by WHD. He also leads the agency’s communications, strategic and operational planning, performance management, and audit liaison functions, while ensuring the effective administration of information technology, financial management, human resources, records management, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) operations, property management, and controlled correspondence.
Mr. Kravitz began his federal career in 2000 as a Wage and Hour Investigator in the Baltimore District Office. He later served as a Legislative and Regulatory Analyst for the Employment Standards Administration before returning to WHD. For more than a decade, he served as WHD’s Director of Communications, leading the agency’s internal and external communications strategy, including outreach, partnerships, web content, publications, and media relations. Prior to becoming Deputy Administrator, he served as Associate Administrator for Performance and Communications, where he directed strategic planning, agency performance initiatives, training programs, certificate processing, audits, and communications.
