Michael Schloss

Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Program Operations

Michael Schloss is the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Program Operations of the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and as such is the chief operating officer of the Agency.

Mr. Schloss joined the Department of Labor in 1991 as a trial attorney for the Plan Benefits Security Division (PBSD), filling various roles including Trial Attorney, Senior Trial Attorney, and Counsel for Financial Litigation, where he represented the Department in federal district court and appellate litigation. Mr. Schloss worked as an EBSA Regional Director, for over 6 years before becoming the EBSA Enforcement Director, serving as the principal advisor on policy and program matters pertaining to enforcement activities.

Prior to returning to the Department of Labor, Mr. Schloss worked with The Wagner Law Group, advising clients and providing expert testimony on matters arising under Title I of ERISA and related provisions of other federal laws.

Mr. Schloss holds a Bachelor of Arts from Yeshiva College and a Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He also is the inventor on a cybersecurity patent - US11178107B2.
