Thomas Browder

Tom Browder is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Budget and Performance in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management. In this role, he leads the Department’s budget formulation and execution activities and oversees strategic planning, performance reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Department. Prior to his current role, Mr. Browder served as General Counsel of the Institute of Museum and Library Services. During this period, he also served on detail to the Department of Labor as Acting Deputy Solicitor for Regional Enforcement.  

Previously, Mr. Browder served as Deputy Chief Counsel at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, including a detail as Chief Counsel at Goddard Space Flight Center. Mr. Browder began his federal career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and deployed to Iraq as a civilian for 10 months, serving as Deputy and then District Counsel for USACE’s Gulf Region District in Baghdad. Before that, he practiced with firms in Georgia and Florida and began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Georgia’s Brunswick Judicial Circuit.

Mr. Browder received his law degree from the College of William & Mary and his undergraduate degree from Hampden-Sydney College.
